The Best Christmas Commercials of All Time

10 December 2018

The Christmas season is almost here, and nothing reminds about it better than Christmas adverts. It is the time when all the companies try to surpass each other in creativity, and most of the time they do. But only a few stay in our memories forever and become classics that we never get tired of watching.
To honor their effort, and remind ourselves of the best of the best, let’s rewatch everyone’s favorite commercials once again. We hope that they will make you feel a little happier and fill you with a Christmas spirit.

Sainsbury’s 2014

The Christmas is the kindest season. We associate it with love, friendships, and peace. Those were the ideas that the Sainsbury decided to use in their 2014 Christmas commercial. Needless to say, it was a success. Even though the advert is relatively new, no list of the best Christmas advertisements can do without it.

The advert is centered around the real story that happened in 1914. In the mids of the First World War, German and British soldiers ceased the fire to play football together on Christmas. The British supermarket chain beautifully recreated the scene for its advertisement, and it has stayed in the memory of people forever.

Coca-Cola 1995

There is no way we can talk about the greatest commercials of all time and not mention Coca-Cola. The music from the 1995 Coca-Cola advert is probably what Christmas sounds like for many people around the world. Even though it does not look as epic as some of the ads that came after it, its impact is not less important. It has an important role both in the history of Christmas ads, and the company itself. It made everyone feel that there is no Christmas without a bottle of Coca-Cola.  And is not that what ultimately any company wants? That is how you know you have created a marketing masterpiece.

.

Apple 2017

No company knows how to appeal to the younger and older generation equally well than Apple. And the 2017 advertisement is the only proof you need. A slightly creepy, and very sweet short story about the Frankenstein’s monster preparing a song on his iPhone can make anyone smile. To our taste, it is definitely one of the best Christmas commercials in the history of the company.

.

Sainsbury’s 2018

The advert that Sainsbury produced this year is not any less sweet and touching than the ones it has produced before. If anything it is even sweeter. Our team watched it about 10 times, and it did not get any less adorable.

Besides being incredibly cute, the ad also captures the experience that many parents can easily relate to. For many, it is an inevitable part of the Christmas season. It has everything a good Christmas advert needs – charming kids, nice song, story, and an adorable plug boy. We challenge you not to smile while watching a kid dressed as a plug jump into a socket!

.

Aldi 2017

The company did not expect the ad about the Kevin the Carrot to be as much of the success as it was. No one expected the action-filled advert about a carrot saving a dame-carrot and getting pead got everyone talking about Aldi. The character became the company’s (and our) favorite Christmas vegetable and already made a comeback since its first realize.

.

Hershey’s Kisses 1989

The cute Hershey’s Kisses commercial is another classic that many of us cannot imagine Christmas without. The clever and tasteful execution made the simple ad into a national classic that many people associate the holiday season with.

.

Campbells Soup 1993

We challenge you not to want a bowl of a warming soup after watching 1993 Campbells Soup advert. It is another classic commercial that many people think of when you say Christmas ads. The cute snowman that melts into a little boy after eating a steaming chicken soup… What can be more heartwarming than that?

.

Heathrow Airport 2016

When we think of Christmas, we think of family reunions. For many people, it is the best part of the holiday! Understanding the needs and feelings of their audience Heathrow Airport has created an advertisement that touched the heart of many people. The advert is about two teddy bears that come to visit their family. It became an Internet sensation, and they brought the bears back for the Christmas commercial they have created this year. There is no doubt they are going to come back to the characters again in the future.

.

John Lewis 2014

John Lewis ad from 2014 made children and adults all around the world want an adorable Monty The Penguin as a present. The company is famous for its touching and slightly sad Christmas commercials. They are genius both regarding storytelling and marketing. John Lewis just knows how to do it right. The one about a teddy Penguin is no exception, and it also happens to be our favorite.

.

M&M’s 1996

We are sure that the mutual amazement of Santa and chocolate candies will stay in everyone’s memory forever. It is another iconic advertisement that we can’t imagine Christmas without. It even became part of the company’s identity as well. ‘They do exist!’ We bet the sentence evokes good memories for many of you. The ad has also aged well. It looks just as cool, as when it aired.

Of course, there are many more that might be worth your attention. Those were only the few of our favorite ads. Hope they made you feel a little happier and helped you get into Christmas mood. Which one is your favorite?
